Backstage Loft is a masterwork of bold design and artistic flair, crafted by renowned Swiss designer and architect Heinz Julen. With uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn, a blend of reclaimed Alpine structure and avant-garde interior elements, and seamless indoor-outdoor living, this exceptional chalet offers a luxury experience unlike any other in Zermatt.

Designed around a former Valais barn, the chalet is divided into interconnected cube-like volumes, creating a striking architectural identity. The main living space is open-plan and voluminous, filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Every detail, from the sculptural lighting to the custom-made furnishings, has been created by Julen in his Zermatt studio. A wood-burning fireplace brings warmth to the contemporary elegance, while carefully curated artworks reflect the creative energy of the region.

A standout feature is the glass-enclosed hot tub, where guests can soak in mountain serenity while gazing directly at the Matterhorn. This unique spa space can be opened to transform into an outdoor experience with the push of a button. Below, a private sauna and Hammam offer further relaxation, alongside a compact fitness space with cardio equipment and free weights.

The living space flows into a dining area with a unique raisable table, perfect for transforming the atmosphere—whether it’s an elegant dinner or a lively celebration. The adjoining sleek kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet catering. For relaxed evenings, a home cinema room provides the perfect retreat with a curated selection of films and plush seating.

Backstage Loft accommodates up to 10 guests across five luxurious en-suite bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms are found within the main structure, each echoing the chalet’s expressive design and high-end finishes. Two further bedrooms are located in the adjoining 700-year-old barn conversion, a glass-encased architectural gem preserving original timber and stone elements while offering modern luxury. Several of the rooms offer direct access to balconies or terraces overlooking Zermatt.

An internal elevator connects the levels of the chalet, which also includes a ski room with boot warmers for total convenience.

In addition to the chalet’s private facilities, guests enjoy access to the renowned spa of the Backstage Hotel in central Zermatt. Themed around the Book of Genesis, this one-of-a-kind wellness journey offers immersive therapy rooms, saunas, steam experiences, and hydrotherapy zones, designed to guide guests through the seven days of creation.
